Spanish Influenza struck Seattle in September 1918. On October 5th, the theaters in Seattle were closed to help stop the spread of the disease. By October 29th all citizens were required to wear gauze masks in public. The theaters were reopened on November 12th, 1918 after the armistice ended World War I.
